‘Bridgerton’ season 2: love collides with social duty in 1800s London

DUBAI: Ukrainian-born actress Mila Kunis turned heads on the red carpet at the 94th Academy Awards and on stage during the annual gong ceremony.

The “That ’70s Show” star arrived at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles wearing a pastel pink silk dress by Zuhair Murad. The elegant creation comes from the Lebanese fashion designer’s spring 2022 collection.

The 38-year-old, who made her mark in two long-running TV comedies and earned a Golden Globe nomination for her big-screen work in ‘Black Swan,’ wore a pink silk dress with a ruched body, a belt, and a one-sided shoulder strap. She paired the dress with diamond jewelry from Messika.

Kunis was one of the presenters for the evening, and she featured American singer Reba McEntire’s “Somehow You Do” performance from the film “Four Good Days,” which was nominated for Best Song.

During his presentation, Kunis did not mention his native Ukraine, but talked about the devastation of recent world events, presumably referring to the Eastern European country.

She said: “Recent world events have left many of us feeling gutted, but when you witness the strength and dignity of those who face devastation, it’s impossible not to be moved by their resilience.

“One can’t help but be impressed by those who find the strength to keep fighting in unimaginable darkness,” she added.

After McEntire’s performance, the Oscars scheduled a moment of silence.

The 2022 Oscars was also the first time Kunis and her husband, American actor Ashton Kutcher, attended the awards show together despite having been married since 2015.

The couple recently launched a GoFundMe project to help Ukrainians in need amid Russia’s invasion of their country and raised over $30 million in two weeks.

Meanwhile, Kunis wasn’t the only one championing Arab design talent on Sunday night.

Tennis star Venus Williams opted for a custom white Elie Saab dress with a plunging neckline, while Ethiopian model Liya Kebede donned a dark brown Alaia dress with a large teardrop cutout on the torso.

Elsewhere, Colombian actress and singer Carolina Gaitan wore a pink Tony Ward dress with a matching puff jacket, while American actress Niecy Nash turned heads in a hot pink ruffle dress by Bahraini brand Monsoori.

As the night progressed, other celebrities were stunned by the looks of the Lebanese designers. Model Chrissy Teigen attended the famous Vanity Fair Oscars after-party in a beautiful gray and silver Georges Hobeika gown that featured a strapless, chest cutout and high leg slit.

Puerto Rican model Joan Smalls also attended the after-party and wore an Elie Saab haute couture gown embellished with crystals and feathers.
