Lahore, Nov 13 (IANS) PTI Chairman Imran Khan claimed on Sunday that a ‘criminal’, a reference to PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, sitting in London is scared of the election, alleging he is putting the national interest at stake to save themselves, according to a media report.
The former prime minister said the main purpose of his long march was to seek free and fair elections in the country, Geo News reported.
“For 30 years, two families have ruled Pakistan if they had to do something, they would have done it by now,” Khan said, while referring to the PPP and the PML-N.
He added that for seven months he had been saying that the coalition government in place was leading the country towards destruction.
“They ruined the economy in 2018. How can those who destroyed the economy fix it,” the PTI chief asked. He added that over the past seven months he had stressed that the incumbent leaders could not manage the government, Geo News reported.
“When the country was progressing, they plotted and overthrew the government,” the PTI leader said.
Khan also claimed that all sectors are down in the country.
Speaking about his party’s march, Khan said the PTI is on the streets as it seeks free and fair elections.
“A lot of people say this march is going slowly. This march has slowed down because I was attacked,” he added.
The former prime minister also criticized the outgoing leaders for touring during the seven months they have been in office.
“What benefit did the country get from their tours? The country is in economic decline, does anyone have a way to save it,” the PTI chief asked, Geo News reported.
