Wearable tech has been high on the agenda at, which for the first time this week in Berlin. On Friday, Chinese tech company Honor, a sister brand to the better-known Huawei, unveiled two new smartwatches — the GS Pro and the ES — to add to the lineup of .
The Honor Watch GS Pro has a round face and a rugged appearance, and is designed to withstand difficult environments — including not having access to a charger for weeks on end. The GS Pro can last up to 25 days on a single charge, and it boasts navigation capabilities including enhanced GPS and weather alerts, making it ideal for when you’re out in the wilderness on that long-distance, multiday trek you’ve been meaning to take. With over 100 fitness modes, the watch can track activities including triathlon and skiing, and it even has an altitude barometer for mountaineering.
But don’t think its advanced capabilities means the watch lacks style. It comes in black, white and blue, so you can match it to the rest of your outdoor kit.
If you’re more of an indoors person — or even just a weekend warrior — and looking for wearable to make a fashion statement, the Watch ES might be more your speed. It comes in black and white, but pink is also available if that’s more your vibe.
As well as looking slim and stylish, it’s designed to cater to people who want to prioritise their health and fitness. The Watch ES offers 95 workout modes and can display 44 animated fitness moves on its 1.64-inch rectangular AMOLED display. In terms of battery life, it doesn’t quite measure up to the G Pro, but it will still stretch to 10 days if you’re careful.
If you fancy getting your hands on one of Honor’s new wearables you won’t have long to wait. Both watches will be available in Europe from Sept. 7, with the G Pro priced at 250 euros (about $300, £230 or AU$420) and the Watch ES priced at 100 euros.
Honor laptops and tablet
Completing Honor’s IFA product lineup are two new laptops and a tablet.
The Honor Pad 6 is a 10-inch tablet designed to be your portable entertainment hub thanks to its high-amplitude dual speakers. At 460 grams, it won’t weigh down your hand luggage too much while you’re traveling, and can connect through both Wi-Fi and LTE.
If you’re looking for a more serious machine to help you complete complex creative projects, the new MagicBook Pro might be better suited to your needs. According to Honor, this 16-inch laptop should be able to cope with whatever you throw it for work or play, thanks to its AMD Ryzen 5 4600H processor with integrated Radeon Graphics, 512GB SSD storage drive and 16GB of RAM. It’s going to be available in Europe starting Sept. 7 for 900 euros.
If your requirements for a laptop don’t quite stretch to these specs, Honor also unveiled the AMD refresh of MagicBook 14 and 15. These will be available in Europe within the next month at 750 euros for the MagicBook 14 and 700 euros for the MagicBook 15.
