Jesus continued his fine pre-season form as the Gunners secured a fantastic victory against their Premier League rivals.
Jesus joined Arsenal from Manchester City on a long-term £45million deal this summer. The Brazilian star quickly settled in, scoring twice on his debut against FC Nuremberg before adding another against Everton.
Jesus knocked again
Jesus continued in the same vein on Sunday morning as his 15th-minute strike put Arsenal ahead against Chelsea in the Florida Cup final at Camping World Stadium.
The former Manchester City star took advantage of a brilliant pass from Granit Xhaka before ejecting the ball beautifully past Edouard Mendy in the Chelsea goal.
Jesus’ strike opened the floodgates for Arsenal, who dominated the rest of the game. Mikel Arteta’s men doubled their advantage in the 36th minute thanks to Martin Odegaard’s cool finish following another fantastic pass from Gabriel Martinelli.
The Gunners took a two-goal lead at the break but resumed the second half hungrier, culminating in a third goal.
Arsenal upped the ante against Chelsea
Arsenal extended their lead in the 66th minute through Bukayo Saka, who netted a rebound after Mendy knocked down Xhaka’s shot.
Sabi Lokonga’s header in the second minute of added time added shine to the scoreline as the Gunners secured an emphatic victory over their London rivals to complete their US tour.
The Gunners will now return to the Emirates this weekend, where they will face Sevilla in the Emirates Cup.
