Uefa and CONMEBOL The friendly match announced on Wednesday after a memorandum of understanding was signed, with a joint office to be opened by football authorities in the capital early next year.

European and South American authorities have clearly shown their contempt for FIFAof the biennial World Cup plan and further strengthen their ties by planning “a variety of football events”.

The first of those clashes features Italy and Argentina at a still unnamed stadium in London on June 1, 2022.

“There is a long tradition of cooperation between UEFA and CONMEBOL, as has been seen over the years with competitions such as the Artemio Franchi Trophy and the Intercontinental Cup,” said UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin in a statement.

“It is with great pride that we release such a prestigious national team trophy to the delight of football fans around the world.”

Italy beat England at Wembley in a penalty shootout to win the Euro 2020 crown earlier this year, while Argentina beat Brazil to claim their first Copa America title since 1993. The memorandum will run until mid 2028.

“We are extremely satisfied with the fruits we are reaping with UEFA, due to an excellent relationship between our institutions,” said CONMEBOL President Alejandro Dominguez.

“By signing this renewal and extension of our Memorandum of Understanding, we are laying the foundations for a smooth cooperation to grow and develop further.

“The final between Argentina and Italy, on June 1, 2022 in London, will be accompanied by other high-level sporting events, as befits the tradition of South American and European football. The opening of our common office will allow us to face new projects with agility and vigor for the benefit of millions of fans on our continents and in the rest of the world.
