While Toy Fair New York and the 72nd Spielwarenmesse International Toy Fair have been cancelled, the British Toy and Hobby Association (BTHA) maintains its intention to hold its annual toy fair in the UK. The toy fair will take place from January 25 to 27 at the Olympia in London.
Following a statement released on January 5, the BTHA released another update on Friday to assure attendees that the London event is underway.
“The BTHA is aware of the understandable concerns and rumors regarding the toy fair which is still going on… [and] would like to confirm that its toy fair should go ahead as planned,” the organization said. “The Association wishes to express its great sadness and empathy towards the organizers, exhibitors, visitors and participants of the Nuremberg and New York fairs in the situation which led to the cancellation of these fairs… The BTHA understands how bad the decision would have been for our friends at these shows. The London Toy Fair faces a different set of circumstances which allows us to continue to deliver the show and we look forward to welcoming participants from the UK and international toy community to the Fair. Many large business, cultural, social and sporting events take place in the UK and the appetite for Toy Fair is an enthusiasm for it to go ahead as planned across most parts of our industry.
In the wake of global cancellations on the trade show circuit, many toymakers are falling back on virtual presentations, but rest assured, Adventure Media & Events — publisher of the toy book, the toy insider, and the pop insider – full steam ahead to showcase all the latest new products and industry information. The directory BIG toy book – which usually debuts at TFNY – will still see a February release alongside the winter issue 22 of the pop insider.
The toy book has been on the #pulseofplay since 1984 and we want to help YOU stay on top too! Click here for a free print subscription to the magazine (US addresses only). This offer is open for a limited time!
