  • He scalped a wicket on his debut
  • Saini hit an outrageous limit on his shot through the middle

India point guard Navdeep Saini made his List A debut for Kent against Glamorgan on Thursday August 4. The right arm pacer made immediate impact with the ball and fired opener Sam Northeast on the 4th delivery of the 2nd inning. But he struggled after that and finished with a 10-0-61-1 spell.

Although Saini didn’t quite have a memorable debut, he still grabbed the spotlight on Day 2 of the tournament. During his three-ball stint in the middle, Saini reached a limit and helped Kent break through the 300-point mark.

His boundary shot was outrageous as Navdeep walked to his right and played a scoop to the long leg. The ball was not thrown far outside the stump. But since there was space behind the wicket, Saini picked that area and cleared the ropes with ease.

Kent cricket took to social media and shared the video of Saini’s shot, which garnered over 25,000 likes.

Asked to bat first, Kent lost the wicket of fly-half Ben Compton on the 2nd delivery of the match. Thanks to the ton of Joey Evison and the half-centuries of Oliver Robinson and Alex Blake, Kent posted a whopping 304/8 on the board.

Saini secured an early breakthrough for Kent while defending the huge target, but it didn’t prove enough. Former South African batsman Colin Ingram hit a century and hit a game-winning 155. Tom Cullen also played his part and went unbeaten on 80 of 77.
