NFT London Goth Girlfriends Exhibition

From “crypto bros” to “goth girlfriends“, despite the growing world of Web3, there remains an absence of diverse and marginalized groups represented in these spaces. Opportunities for artistic innovation are now driven by predominantly male, white, and cisgender voices, leaving little inspiration for women, people of color, or those who identify with gender. LGBTQ+ community to get involved in the communities of NFT (non-fungible tokens) or cryptocurrency.

A collective on the heels, armed with their black lipstick and spiked collars, is Gothic Girlfriends. Co-founder no face teamed up with the artistic duo HE Creative create Goth– themed NFTs that are mostly led by women.

Their latest exhibition in London, England tells how a small, long-time vision of creators tired of or not seeing themselves in the NFT art world has created a community beyond anything they could have anticipated.

“It’s amazing the avenues it can go to,” says the artistic wizards behind the art that surrounds us in this decadent gallery, the HE Creative team. They are no strangers to the alternative community, both from the punk and hardcore scenes from their youth. “It’s a very organic culture,” they explain. “Often we don’t stay involved with a project after the art is complete, but with that you are held in high regard as an artist.” Alongside their work Goth Girlfriends, in this gallery we see tour admats and other work they have created for artists such as Phoebe Bridger and Salemincluding ours avenged sevenfold Deathbats NFT magazine covers.

Squatting in the basement of this intimate gallery to find some quiet amid all the enthralling chaos, the DJ’s bass amps through the ceiling as the gentle sting of a tattoo gun echoes in the distance, one thing is obvious: Goth Girlfriends’ NFTs are really only scratching the surface of what this project is all about and the possibilities for alternative music in these spaces, particularly as it relates to diversifying these spaces through the prism of alternative culture.

“Our main goal is to bring people together online and offline,” says NoFace, founder of Goth GF and hive genius behind it all. “Things online are so important,” they explain. “But it’s just as important for real life. Events like this show that we are real; we are a legitimate project. The fact that so many women are here is amazing. This is the biggest lack of diversity, especially in crypto and NFTs.

NoFace’s point is painfully precise but thankfully changing, thanks to communities like Goth Girlfriends. Along with spectacular art featuring women of all backgrounds, styles and walks of life, the Goth Girlfriends team has created spaces both online and in real life – at concerts, galleries and festivals – to uplift marginalized groups in the NFT and music space. .

With the greatest musicians venturing into the world of Web3, BABYMETAL at Noose, Goth Girlfriends exemplifies how artists can go beyond NFT and create unique experiences, both online and in the real world. Their gallery is just the beginning, “we’ve been doing events recently with creeper and Nova Twins. It’s so good to be back at events,” says NoFace. Thanks to the Goth Girlfriends community, you can access exclusive tickets, guest lists and access to your favorite artists like never before, as well as having your own NFT. They reinforce an already growing link between the world of Web3 and alternative culture.
