Old Bexley and Sidcup by-election: Reform candidate

Voters in Old Bexley and Sidcup constituencies will choose their new MP tomorrow (2 December), following the tragic death of James Brokenshire.

Former local government secretary Mr Brokenshire won the seat with a majority of almost 19,000 in the 2019 general election.

Richard Tice represents the Reform Party, formerly known as the Brexit Party.

News Shopper gave top contenders the opportunity to speak directly to readers ahead of Election Day.

Richard Tice – Reform

On behalf of a frustrated nation, this Thursday you have the opportunity to send a loud and clear message to Westminster that you are tired of business as usual in Parliament.

Over the past few weeks, Westminster has given countless more examples of why this change couldn’t be bigger. We have a government without a leader, without a leadership, unable to keep the promise our country offers, and we are an empty, toothless opposition unable to hold anyone to account.

Our country has so much potential and it can accomplish so much, but for that to happen British politics needs radical reform.

We can start making that change right here at Old Bexley and Sidcup, but only if you vote for it – and that’s what I’m asking you to vote for:

No waiting list
Hospital waiting lists are too long and our hospitals are not as safe as they should be. Health care in our country is in dire need of reform. We will always maintain free point-of-delivery care, but we will introduce a system of vouchers to achieve zero waiting lists, putting patients in charge of their own health care.

Cheaper energy
Britain is in the throes of an entirely self-inflicted energy crisis. The government’s current neat and stupid energy plans will destroy UK jobs – sending them overseas, especially to China, and lead to a huge increase in domestic bills every year to pay foreign energy companies. Unacceptable and unnecessary. We will nationalize 50% of our core public services with the remaining 50% held by UK pension funds and prevent foreign owners from taking advantage of our critical infrastructure. In addition, we are also committed to saving your boilers and significantly reducing consumption costs.

Securing our borders
With all the benefits of Brexit, Westminster still fails to stop countless illegal immigrant boats from crossing the Channel every day. Let us welcome those who have high level skills and talents, but make it clear that illegal immigration is not acceptable and put an end to the vile smugglers.

Consocialist conservatives have raised taxes to the highest level in 70 years, penalizing the less well-off the most. We must get out of the covid crisis, not force our return to conservative austerity. We will free 6 million people from all income tax and raise the minimum tax threshold from £ 12,500 per year to £ 20,000 per year

Five years ago it was the British people, not the politicians, who freed our country from the shackles of the European Union and made our independence.

I ask you to take the same position on Thursday. Say loud and clear that now it is the Reformist.
