What kind of skater are you? There’s the eager beginner who pulls himself by the handrail, secretly wishing he were young enough to ask a penguin for help; the show-off who can’t stop himself from spinning on the skating rink; and the real ice skater who knows his toe curl from his Lutz – and of whom we are infinitely jealous.
Regardless of your ice skating ability, trying out an ice rink is a fun activity, and the whole family can get involved.
London has no shortage of ice rinks. Some are open all year round, such as the ice rink at Alexandra Palace and Streatham Ice Center, and many that pop up around this time of year, like Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland and the Hampton Court Palace Ice Rink. Plus, there’s a new kid on the skating block this winter: Battersea Power Station.
